SOCIALISTS NOW NO POLITICAL VELAN FOR HUMAN RIGHTS?
not sign a draft resolution on protection of human rights in Western Sahara
CpC The PSC and CiU parliamentary groups have refused to sign a resolution on protection of human rights in Western Sahara proposed by the Intergroup for Peace and Freedom in the Sahara of the Parliament of Catalonia. The motion was entered to record the signatures of the ERC, PP, ICV-USA and C's and will soon be debated in the Committee on Cooperation, approved but needs support, at least, PSC and CiU.
situation of grave human rights situation in Western Sahara occupied by Morocco is widely documented. Ignoring it is a crime of ethics, morality and justice and against humanity. The motion asks the Parliament of Catalonia Government to strongly condemn violations of human rights carried out by Saharawi army and police asked the Moroccans and the Moroccan Government to ensure respect for human rights of the population. Another aspect contemplated the resolution is key to ensuring respect for human rights: Ask the supervision of human rights is part of the mandate of the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO). You must request this monitoring of human rights is part of the mandate of MINURSO and must reach the Secretary General of the UN mandate before it is reviewed in April.
The consul of Morocco has been allowed to express publicly their disagreement with this resolution, exposing a group that has leaked the information. Which is not strange to us, when the PSC-CpC has among its deputies Mohamed Chaib, part of the royal advisory council of Mohamed VI. The
ACAPS - Catalan Association of Friends of the Saharawi people - very much regret that two major political formations such as CiU and PSC-CpC, acting on behalf of Morocco, the occupying force, illegal and genocidal. Since many areas of Catalan civil society work for the Sahrawi people and to find a just solution to the conflict, which involves holding a self-determination referendum, free and fair, according to UN resolutions.
Parliamentary groups of the PSC-CpC and CiU have not wanted to sign this motion as simple as innocuous. When that most people can easily understand and share, it has to do with human rights, it is also understood and shared by some parties, the question is raised: What interests are these parties in Morocco?
