He based on the American series Bewitched (known in Japan as "Oku-sama wa Majo"). The anime was produced and broadcast from 1966 to 1968 in Japan by Toei Animation (the first). Sally is the princess of the "world of witches", Astoria, she wants to visit the mortal world - probably to make friends his own age.
